Top 5 Things to do in London
Having spent 4 days in London last Spring, I’m planning for another visit to London this Summer. What made me so falling for London, apart from those good memories during my post graduate studies in London, are the people, their culture, and also the countless attractions there. I feel like going home whenever I travel to London. With their warm hearted services and great English breakfast, London hotels are also another factor that make me going back again.
Spending 4 days in London is simply not enough to cover all their attractions. There are so many things a visitor can do in London. I grouped them into top 5 categories so it would be easier for reference. Every traveler visiting London should not miss to do any of these:
- Sightseeing and photo taking -London’s rich history and great architecture have developed a city with full of landmarks for visitors to explore. Iconic architecture such as the Tower Bridge, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, St. Paul Cathedral, Buckingham Palace and British Museum are some of the must-see’s in London. Along the sightseeing tour, taking photos is also a must-do thing to capture them into a beautiful album of breathtaking pictures.
- Food and Beverage – Beside those London’s attractions, travelers must also try the authentic British food such as Fish-and-Chips, the English breakfast, English high tea culture with lots of scones, and those local favourites such as Turkey’s Kebab or Chinese sweet and sour chicken. At night, pub crawling at Soho will make you fall in love with its joyful nightlife.
- Shopping – No London travel will complete without paying a visit to its world renown The Harrods departmental store. For middle class fashion, hop off at Oxford Street and you will find all the local designer boutiques you can think of. For hippies and rockers, head over to Camden Markets for something alternatives.
- Travel about – London has one of the oldest and most comprehensive sub-way called London Underground. First thing to do in London is to buy a travel card to travel within London city centre with their underground trains to experience the 11 different Lines and multi storey platforms. With the same travel card, visitors can also hop onto the iconic Red Buses instead. Fancy, old fashion black cab could also be your next means of transport in London.
- Leisure and theatre – After all the above, it would be memorable to spend some times doing nothing but just relaxing in one of the many parks in London city centre, such as Hyde Parks or St. James’ Park. At night, try booking a ticket to enjoy some famous theatre around Leicester Square and Soho area. Some travelers may prefer to have London theatre breaks when they plan for holidays in London.
If you are visiting London for the first time, this would be a good list of things to do in a few days. I had a great fun visiting London last Spring. And I have done most of the above top 5 things in London, if not all. This Summer, I will do them again. Hopefully, I could repeat it over and over again each year… – Travel Feeder, your ultimate photo travel blog
