For most of the travelers in the world especially Asian travelers, travelling to countries in Europe perhaps is their dreams come true. The reasons are the cost of Europe tour that is very expensive as their Euro currency has emerged as one of the strongest currency in the world currently. On top of that, there are so many exclusive cities in Europe and so many travel sites that travelers will need easily 3 months if they want to capture briefly most of the countries in Europe. So, in order to save some money and time for an Europe tour, it is important to know which countries and travel sites to cover in priority within a limited period of holidays that we normally afford. I was lucky enough to have been to quite a few countries there and from my travel experience to Europe, here are the Top 5 Cities, in my opinon, that you must include in your must-visit list for your Europe Tour planning. Oops, sorry to say that this is only part of my Top 5 cities as there are unlimited facts to write about this most significant city in Europe, and one of the top in the world, London.

1) LONDON

As the capital city of England and United Kingdom, whoever wish to visit England must first visit London. Right from the while you reach the Heathrow International Airport, the established and busy city will stun you effortlessly. Covering 1500km square of the area and over 7 millions of its population, London has plenty of travel sites and attraction to offer to any traveler.

You could experience the world oldest and most extensive London Underground train in central London where there is always a station on the next street in central London. For museum lovers, there are the infamous British museum and Madame Tussauds max museum; For architecture, London bridge is more popular with the song “London Bridge is falling down…. falling down…. falling down…” though it is always confused with the more iconic landmark, Tower Bridge, which is next to it. While the Big Ben and Westminster building with warden marching show are the tourists favorite.

For shopping addicts, the 2km long, Europe busiest shopping street, Oxford Street, is a must-go spot. Or you may want to experience the royal privilege of shopping at The Harrods in Knightsbridge; For park lovers, Hyde Park and Trafalgar Square would be your choice. Hyde Park is famous with it open air summer concert festivals during July-August; For food lovers, London is the home for the oldest and original HardRock Cafe while its diverse mixture of population ethnic group has introduced full variaties of foreign food to London; Indian in Brick Lane, Chinese in China Town, Italian in SOHO, Carribean in Notting Hill; For sightseeing, you should ride on the London Eye or cruise along the Thames River. And there are so much more.

All these places are reachable by London’s excellent railway transport, either underground or above ground. The best bet is to buy a daily London pass that allows you to take whatever public transports and visit tourist attractions for a fixed price which could save you bomb. For fast conectivity, London Underground or tube is ideal as most part of Central London is covered by underground network. On the other hand, London exclusive red buses are just perfect for a city sightseeing ride. Driving a car here is not advisable as parking space during normal hours is very limited and expensive.

Being one of the most expensive city in the world, everything is money in London. However, there are travel tips that you could save lots of money if you are planning for a budget travel to London. For instance, you could:-

  • book in advance online for London hotels or Bed and Breakfast which could save you 50% of accommodation cost;
  • Buy London Pass for 6 days for £144 (as of 2011) to get maximum saving on entrance fares and public transportation;
  • Visit London in July or January for great saving on shopping during their 70% off store wide sales;
  • get great late evening offer of 50% on breads in supermarket such as Tesco, and
  • grab a free newspaper at any railway station to look for any discounted staffs.
