Guide on Spring holidays to Barcelona Spain
Spring is around the corner. If you are just starting to plan a last minute trip to Europe, it is never too late. One of my favourite cities to visit during Spring in Europe is without doubt Spain. Enjoying the Mediterranean weather with plenty of sunlight and mild temperature, Barcelona and Madrid are among others the most popular destinations in Spain. With my limited experience gathered from my Barcelona trip 2 years ago, here are some tips and guides which could help you to plan your Spring holidays to Barcelona and other parts of Spain.
Spain is located in the South Western Europe along the Mediterranean Sea. It is bordered with France at its East and Portugal at its West. Spain is famous for its beautiful beaches, vibrant nightlife, attractive architecture, interesting culture, cheap shopping and never forget its mouth watering Spanish foods.
Major cities such as Barcelona and Madrid are well connected with other European cities by various budget flights and trains. I took Ryanair from London to Girona 2 years ago and from there a shuttle bus transferred me to Estació del Nord station in the city centre of Barcelona in one hour. After arriving at the city centre, there are too many hotels for travelers to choose from. From star rated hotels, guest houses, Bed and Breakfast to camp sites. Traveling groups can also book for Barcelona apartments.
If you were to plan for a few days in the most touristic city of Barcelona, here are some places you should not skip:
- La Rambla– La Rambla is famous for its wide tree-lined pedestrian walkway. It is also the most crowded and liveliest street of the city. Mainly frequented by tourists, there are countless hotels, restaurants, shopping outlets and the La Boqueria market occupying the rows of shops.
- Barceloneta beach– It is 422 metres long and is one of the oldest beaches with the longest tradition in the city. Not far away from La Rambla, Barceloneta Beach is one of the most popular Spring spots for the local people who wish to enjoy their first sunbathing of the year. Expect nudity on the beach.
- Park Guell– Park Guell is one of the most impressive public parks in the world. The park is located in Barcelona and was designed by famous architect Antonio Gaudi. It is one of the many attractions in Barcelona that made me no regret of visiting Barcelona on my travel to Europe last summer.
- Casa Batlló – Another creation by Antonio Gaudi.
- Sagrada Familia – Perhaps the most iconic and tallest building in Barcelona, Sagrada Familia was first designed and constructed by Gaudi but has never completed when he died in 1926. Most interestingly, 131 years after the construction first started, Sagrada Familia is now still under construction and unfinished!
- Passeig de Gracia – The upmarket shopping street in Barcelona frequented by many celebrities and many luxurious travelers.
- MareMagnum shopping and entertainment mall – The best place to spend your Spring afternoon at the outdoor seating and enjoy your coffee and beautiful seaview at the Port of Barcelona. There you can find the best Jamon sandwich in Barcelona!
No Spring holidays to Barcelona and Spain would complete without trying the Spanish foods. They are all marvelous in your mouth yet without burning hole in your pocket. Among others, Tapas, Spanish Jamon, seafood rice are thee most popular. You can find great Tapas in side lanes off La Rambla at Elisabets Restaurant.
Can’t get enough? From Barcelona you can also visit Madrid. Madrid is the capital of Spain and after checking in to your hotels or other Madrid vacation rentals, you will never get bored. 🙂 – Travel Feeder

For beachin’ it in Barcelona, and staying with fun travel, don’t go to the beaches near the center. They are dirty, crowded with lots of thefts. Best to head to the northern beaches, 20 min walk.
