So who’s booking the holiday next year?
Guest post by Hannah Copues
Although lounging about on the beach all day and sipping at countless Cosmopolitans was my friends’ idea of fun. Sound anything like a re-make of the Sex and City movie? I was determined that this year’s ‘strictly girls only holiday’ was going to provide more exciting activity than lackadaisical lolling about and the countless Cosmo induced hangovers you always end up regretting the next day. I’ll admit that it did take some tactical persuasive skills to sway the others into booking a holiday that didn’t fall under the stereotypical category of the three S’s, sun, sea and sex. However, in the future, when that repetitive question of ‘Name 5 places you’d like to visit or re-visit before you die?’ comes up in post dinner party banter, I can safely say that Cape Town would be a place to hit first on all our lists.
If Cape Town was a blind date, the words it would use to describe itself would be, out-going, thrilling, athletic, friendly, intellectual and romantic. Bearing in mind I was after a little diversity and was hoping this would rub off on my other party members too, this inviting list was certainly enough to tempt me. To put it into perspective, Cape Town was the perfect adventure playground and in retrospect, it catered for anyone and everyone. Although the girls were not so enthusiastic about trudging through the rugged wilderness of Table Mountain or through the heart of Cape Town’s most stunning National Park, they were quite happy to delve into delicious dishes of traditional South African delicacies in luxurious Cape Town restaurants whilst waiting for us to return from our adventures. Again, some of us welcomed exploring the natural beauty of picturesque towns or wandering through the winding streets of magnificent and eye-catching, afro-chic inspired chalets. Others escaped to what is most commonly dubbed as the new nucleus of fashion boutiques and outlets in the bustling city centre or partied endlessly in the sophisticated clubs and live music arenas. Needless to say, some of the party regretted it when they hit customs with a hefty luggage fee and an endless list of handsome males’ numbers to choose from. Watch out single ladies, sometimes this lust over the two L’s on holiday, labels and love, can be deadly.
But it doesn’t stop there. The city is crammed full of exciting opportunity and you at your leisure to choose whether you want an adrenaline junkies dream holiday or a more relaxing beach paradisiacal inspired break. What’s more, is that you’re enjoying affordable experience, staying in luxurious Cape Town hotels and lapping up beautiful weather, but still managing to distance yourself from the cheap and tack of resort holidays. Cape Town boasts stunning beaches and bountiful rivers and waterfalls to take refreshing dips in. Use the colourful environment to try out new and amusing activities for all to enjoy. I can safely say we all had quite a few ‘unforgettable’ moments that I’m glad were NOT documented on camera. So who’s booking the holiday next year? – Travel Feeder, your ultimate photo travel blog
