Travel Snapshots – Jungceylon Shopping Mall @ Patong
What did we do in our first morning in Patong Beach? It was 11a.m. and we were starving! Thanks to our cab driver. He told us those seafood restaurants down the road would be open at 11a.m. (which was actually not! 🙁 ), or we could have our lunch inside the shopping mall. So we made our only choice to visit the biggest shopping mall in Patong Beach, the Jungceylon, hoping that there were something special for us to patronize. Worth taking note is that Phuket Island was used to be called ‘Jungceylon’ during the 15th century!
Little tips for travellers: Don’t expect to have much things to eat in Patong in the morning. Most of the restaurants are open only from noon because most of the tourists wake up only at noon! 🙂
So this is the panorama view of Jungceylon square within the complex splitting the 3 blocks of the mall. Click the photo to view full size. You could see a fountain display on right hand side, open beer counter in the middle and restaurants on left hand side. Within the new block besides the fountain is the ‘must-go’ mega store in Patong or Phuket, the Carrefour Mega Store! Why is it a ‘must-go’? I’ll tell you next on here…
What missing in the panorama shot above was a replica of huge Chinese junk boat parked behind the fountain and a catwalk platform is built in-between. Above is the boat which was shot at night with my 35mm f1.8 Nikkor lens. Fashion shows are being held here with models catwalking the runway every night. 🙂 – Travel Feeder.
These are great photos, I would love to visit Phuket one day. I spent a few days in Thailand 21 years ago, around Bangkok, but there are so many other anazing places to see.

>Tony,
- November 25, 2009Thanks. You can see lots of urban scenes in Bangkok while in Phuket, you can see lots of beauiful beaches and sunsetting. They are both great!
