For those of you travel photographers out there with aspiration to become famous one day, Travel Photographer of the Year 2011 is now Open for Entries! Whether you are a hobbyist, amateur, beginner or professional travel photographer, now you have a great opportunity to showcase your best travel photos to the world at the Royal Geographical Society’s Kensington gallery in London next year during the 2012 Olympic Games.
Travel Photographer Of The Year 2011 (TPOTY) is the photo contest that’s run by photographers for photographers. Travel Photographer was founded by professional photographer Chris Coe and Karen Coe in 2003. Each year, the competition is open to photographers from all countries; amateur or professional, beginner or expert, young or old! The contest starts accepting entries from photographers now by online or post submission for 6 months until the closing date of 9th October, 2011.
TPOTY 2011 has four Portfolio categories (Cultures & Traditions, Natural Elements, Exotic and Spirit of Adventure); two single image categories, – One Shot and First Shot; the New Talent category; the Young Travel Photographer of the Year award (with two different age groups) and the overall winner to be awarded as the Travel Photographer of the Year. All entries submitted are being judged by leading photography experts and offers fantastic prizes including travel adventures, photographic equipment and photography tuition. For more detail information on the competition rules and regulation please check out the TPOTY 2011 official website.
I’m getting so excited as all those winning photos of TPOTY 2010 contest last year are now being exhibited at the Royal Geographical Society’s Kensington gallery in London from 5th May until 10th June 2011 and coincidentally, I’ll be in London as part of my Europe Travel MkII by then! Hooray! So I can visit the gallery most probably on the 6th of June 🙂 Off course you can also see them on TPOTY website’s Winning Gallery but I will have the chance to view the original print in person!
For those of you who are traveling in this Summer, make sure you pack your equipment and start shooting your own portfolio! I hope I can shoot some good photos on my coming trip to Europe this month and join the contest. It’s not about the prizes on offer (in fact prize details are not published yet), it is actually about the exposure, experience and the inspiration given by from the award and the precious comments from the professional judges. – Travel Feeder, your ultimate photo travel blog
