Smart Travel Asia 2013 Best In Travel poll revealed top brands for holiday planning
From May until July this year, Smart Travel Asia, an independent online travel magazine for Asia with over one million readers worldwide, set a poll for its readers to vote for their choice of best products in several travel related categories which, they have experienced in the past and, would influence other travelers in holidays planning decisions. Approximately 70 per cent of the respondents were based in Asia, largely Singapore, Australia, Hong Kong, India, China, Japan, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines and the Middle East.
The result has been released recently and let’s look at some of the notable results to find out if your list of travel brand names is similar to most other travelers. Full details can be read on Smart Travel Asia 2013 Best in Travel Poll.
KL International Airport (KLIA) continues to be one of the traveler’s favorite airports as it maintained its third spot in the Top 10 Airports Worldwide category. The position was shared with Korea’s Incheon International Airport.
“Malaysia Airports places great emphasis on continuously enhancing customer experience at all our airports, particularly KLIA through improving our service and facilities standard. We strongly believe the emergence of KLIA2 next year as the world’s first purpose-built terminal dedicated for low-cost airlines will significantly improve the service quality to passengers and further strengthen KLIA’s status as one of the best airports worldwide,” Malaysia Airports Senior General Manager of Operations Services Datuk Azmi Murad being quoted as saying.
Before this, KLIA is also awarded as one of the best international airport in Skytrax Award.
Incheon International Airport of Korea is also ranked 3rd in World’s Best Airport. I’ve been to the airport where my Korea trip started and ended there. It is definitely one of the best airport I’ve been to thus far in terms of shopping opportunities, albeit its huge premise area could confuse or delay passengers’ way to boarding.
In terms of airlines, we saw mostly the regular winners which topped the chart. That said, there are a few new faces in Top 10 Asian Budget Airline category, where Thai smile, Scoot, Jin Air and VietJet Air made their debut in the top 10, but no one could challenge Airasia for the top ranking.
One of the categories in Smart Travel Asia 2013 Best In Travel poll is Top 10 Asian Holiday Destinations. Bangkok has successfully leapfrogged to the top spot from 5th position last year. While I will only visit Bangkok next March and tell you my perception towards the capital city of Thailand, feedback I gathered from my friends saying that Bangkok is the paradise for shopping and dining.
Some of the top 10 destinations that I’ve visited and absolutely agree to the listing including Bali, Phuket, Tokyo, Seoul, Singapore, Hokkaido, Penang and Shanghai. You can read all my travel experience and many tips and guides towards these cities on my Travel Map.
Other than airports, airlines and travel destinations, Smart Travel Asia 2013 poll results also revealed some of the top hotels in Asia in terms of brand names as well as types.
