Why characters make the Disney difference
Guest Post
With four theme parks, the sliding and floating fun of two water parks, all the dining and shopping delights of Downtown Disney and Disney’s Boardwalk and a lot more besides, anyone visiting the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida is in for a magical experience. From Space Mountain and Cinderella Castle to the movie set adventures of Disney’s Hollywood Studios, a very special trip awaits.
This is a place where you can explore human innovation and co-operation, experience rides which thrill and enchant, then relax on a sun-drenched beach or enjoy a spot of golf. Discover somewhere that children and adults can have fun together.
The cast of much-loved, iconic characters has always been at the heart of “the Disney difference”. And one of the many delights of this resort is that you never quite know who you are going to bump into!
For youngsters, especially, greetings from those they’ve seen in the world-famous Disney movies are among the most thrilling reasons for getting Disney tickets. Kids (of all ages!) can hug; get a picture with or an autograph from many of the best-loved characters.
You could find yourself meeting Aladdin in Adventureland, encountering the seven dwarfs in the Magic Kingdom’s Fantasyland, joining Alice for a Mad Tea Party or spotting countless other personalities, from Goofy to Donald Duck and Cruella De Ville to, of course Mickey and Minnie themselves. It’s a small world, after all!
They pop up across the theme parks at various locations, at permanent attractions and at special character meals. These are understandably very popular, featuring an enormous range of characters and virtually guaranteeing you some face to face time. At Cinderella’s royal table, for example, in the castle in the heart of the Magic Kingdom, little misses can indulge their inner princess to their hearts’ content.
Mostly greetings happen in the parks, especially the Magic Kingdom, which has the widest variety, but you could see anyone just about anywhere!
While Disney’s big six (Minnie, Mickey, Goofy, Pluto, Daisy and Donald) in particular can be spotted around the whole park, other characters are more usually found in the themed land most suited to their genre: Buzz Lightyear in Tomorrowland, for example, or Jack Sparrow in Adventureland.
At Epcot, you’ll tend to mainly find characters from one of the featured themed foreign lands, such as Mulan in the China pavilion. Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom usually have characters making scheduled appearances at specific locations. And at Animal Kingdom’s Camp Minnie-Mickey, there are always at least a few characters who love meeting young guests.
If you or one of your children has their heart set on making the acquaintance of a particular character, check with Guest Relations when you are there, as which characters appear where can change daily. But nothing is ever guaranteed. And appearances tend to be done as surprises, so keep your eyes peeled!
Enjoy the Disney difference this summer – a string of characters who have enthralled generations of youngsters can’t wait to meet and get to know you! Make the dream a reality for your family. 🙂 – Travel Feeder, your ultimate travel photo guide.
