Happy Chinese New Year 2011 and Last minute shopping at China Town

Tomorrow is Chinese New Year of Rabbit! Each year just before the Chinese New Year, I always come to here, the China Town of KL, Malaysia. I come here for last minute shopping. There are few things I never miss to buy for the CNY. Dried meats, chinese wax sausages, Chinese candies and flowers such as blossom flower and Pussy Willow are what I would look for at China Town.

I blogged about China Town shopping and posted China Town photos for the past 2 years. This year I finally remembered to photograph the main entrance arch of China Town. 🙂 Officially, China Town is called Petaling Street.

The similar CNY decorations found in last year but it was shot with my new Nikon D7000 DSLR this year. 🙂 As opposed with the same scene captured by Nikon D60, this photo clearly showed the higher dynamic range of the newer DSLR especially in shadow areas.

China Town nowadays includes areas surrounded by Petaling Street and Sultan Street. Petaling Street is joining to the parallel Sultan Street with this little Cecil Street (my street!? 🙂 ). Cecil Street is where most of the tourists popular seafood restaurants and also the Wo Lai Ye (Kiew Brothers) dried meat retail store located. A must visit street in China Town!

At the end of Cecil Street, another popular stall selling Longan (Dragon eye, 龙眼) herbal drinks. I shot the same in last year…

Located opposite of the Longan stall at Cecil Street is this stall selling wax meats from China! No celebration of CNY would complete without eating this delicacy. Selling at RM38 is these wax whole duck.

I bought some of these wax sausages from China. They are best to cook with rice in claypot, or steam them alone in a steamer. Both are my favourite CNY dishes. They are also Chinese popular gifts to relatives during Chinese New Year.

Lastly, I wish to greet all Chinese in this world a prosperous and healthy New Year 2011 of Rabbit! 🙂 – Travel Feeder, your ultimate photo travel blog
