A few of my favourite Chiang Mai travel photos
Hooray! I just came back from my Chiang Mai trip. It was just a short 6 days trip with my family. I did not expect much exploration into the city since the whole purpose of this trip is to enjoy our private times together with my parents and siblings and our children. Since we joined a ground guided tour in Chiang Mai, I would not hope to have the best timing to shoot great Chiang Mai travel photos along the way either. But surprisingly, thanks to the perfect sunlight for all 6 days, I did still able to capture some great scenes around the city which I wish to share them here first.
First to my readers of Travel Feeder, here are a few of my favourite Chiang Mai travel photos together with images captured in the neighboring Chiang Rai.
A portrait shot with my Nikkor 35mm F1.8 fixed lens. She is one of the Big Ear tribe originally from Myanmar. Now you can visit them in the hill tribe village in Chiang Rai.
A super duper small Aperture of F18 can let my Nikon D7000 captured this sun burst scene at White Dragon Temple or Wat Rong Khun in Chiang Rai.
A yellow coloured filter enhanced my Chiang Mai travel photos around the Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep, or Double Dragon Temple, with a feel of the ancient Lanna empire.
Last but not least, stitching together 2 wide angle shots to make up this panorama view of the Chiang Mai city skyline.
Overall, you could find a lot of similarities in between Phuket and Chiang Mai travel photos, since both are popular travel destinations of Thailand and have the same characteristic in terms of culture, religion and architecture. That said, there are still differences in between the 2 cities. Geographically, Phuket is in the Southern most region while Chiang Mai is in the Northern most. This differentiates them with various distinctive features in terms of typicality. Fairer skin colours of local people, local Lanna cuisine, historical Lanna empire heritage, cooler weather and lower cost of living, make Chiang Mai the next best travel destination after Bangkok.
In view of the escalating political riots and natural disasters such as floods happening in the Southern regions in recent years, Chiang Mai stands out as the best alternative for travelers visiting Thailand, with far more serene and peaceful environment. Above them all, the tremendous increase in the arrival of Chinese tourists also helps Chiang Mai tourism to boom substantially in recent years.
