Happy Women’s Day! Let’s go travel and be a Pro Shooter
Happy 100th Anniversary of international Women’s Day! Today, the 8th of March, is a big day for all women. All ladies, girls, daughters, mother, sisters or who ever female in this world are celebrating on this day to recognize themselves as an important person playing an important role in various sectors in our social, economical and political system.
Today, our world has changed. Women are no longer playing only a supporting role to men. More ladies are leaving their home to travel around the world. More women are financial independent and are big money spenders. They are also starting to pick up hobbies that used to be dominated by guys. Photography is one of them.
I met 2 girls from Hong Kong when I was visiting Europe last year. They are in their early 20’s and they have been backpacking around Europe for the past month. They are friendly, independent and self proclaimed as an avid traveler. They took photos and they are photography hobbyists as well. DSLRs are hung around their neck without a sense of burden. One carried a Lowepro backpack which was filled with telephoto zoom lens as well as external flashes. The other lady also carried a Lowepro backpack but was packed with a netbook. They are confident and full of enthusiasm when talking to them. We talked about where and how they travel around Europe, what they have captured in their cameras and how much they have spent on their travel. We had a pleasant evening when we met each others at our hostel in Paris.
This little story tells us that women now are starting to do what men are doing, and there are times when women are doing better than men, in men’s territory! I’m not being sexism. Instead, I think this is good trend. Camera manufacturers noticed that. You can see Canon came out with red coloured EOS 1100D dslr for ladies; while Dell and Acer are coming out netbooks with colourful skins. The world would become more fun in future. We can get to know more ladies on our travel. We can have lots of common topics to talk on, such as photography, when we meet lady travelers from all over the world. Our travel will not be boring any more! 🙂
So, women, come on! In conjunction with this 100th Women’ Day, let’s go all out to travel! Bring along a Nikon and start shooting like a pro! I think I’m going to love traveling even more then… – Travel Feeder, your ultimate travel photo blog
