Celebrating the International Friendship Day on 30th July
Today is United Nation declared official International Friendship Day. I wish to thank all my friends who have supported or inspired me all this while. Friendship Day may have started as a day to celebrate friendship by exchanging gifts or cards in 1919 in US, for us living in the internet era, I believe exchanging Likes could be something more in to do nowadays. I’m certainly delighted if anyone could Like me in Facebook, Google+ or Linkedin! 🙂
That said, the most meaningful thing happens on International friendship Day for me is no other than making real international friends with people from all over the world! And the most memorable things happened on all my travels was definitely made friends with the local as well as fellow travelers, sharing our experiences and thoughts on travel. As one said, Friendship multiplies the good of life and divides the evil.
There are always times when we met, we knew, we left and we lost contact to each other. Many of us made friends on travel, bid farewell when we left for home and never able to ‘See you’ again. But who cares? A friendship can weather most things and thrive in thin soil. We will only think of friends when we need them. There are also times when I started to miss friends I met on travel, while browsing through my travel albums. The Korean lady in the above photo is surely one of them.
The photo above was taken for a Korean friend we met in Switzerland. We had a great long chat together (off course with Jean around :)) on our trip to Rigi-Kulm mountain top in Lucerne 2 years back. Coincidentally, we met again in Interlaken a day later and made it memorable. We lost contact after that. I hope she can see this photo of herself and give me a tinkle so I can send her back her photos taken by me in Switzerland. Which part of the world are you in now?
Afterall, if you still haven’t Like me, tap the button now and I will Like you back! And this is how we make friends on the net nowadays. Isn’t it? Happy Internation Friendship Day! Lastly, Be true to your works, your words, and your friends. Let’s cherish our life strenghtened with friendship. Â – Travel Feeder
