6 Vital Things to Pack When you are Heading for a Cruise Vacation
Time stops still while you’re on a cruise vacation. It’s your time to lay back and relax and literally just ‘go with the flow’. While you take a peaceful nap, you’re probably passing cities and countries. So wake up and set off on your explorations as you hit the shore, without having to worry about hotel bookings and inter-city travel co-ordinations. Moreover, if you choose to travel on a Seabourn cruises vessel, you are sure to enjoy the cruise as much or even more than the places that it takes you to.
It promises you tantalizing restaurants, great entertainment, minibars and a dedicated room service. However, packing for a cruise vacation does take some skill given the vast variety of occasions/ temperatures that you need to account for. Cruise ships do not typically offer a lot of space, so you must master the art of packing light. If you’re a first time cruiser, you should definitely pack these 6 vital things before setting out on your memorable vacation.
A carry-on bag with your essentials
Do take a carry-on where you can put in things like your contact lenses, swimsuit, toiletries medication and at least one pair of clothes. You wouldn’t want to waste all that time just waiting for your luggage to reach your room (and it can get long). Get a head start by having what you need to hit the ground – or the pool.
Passports please
Whether or not it is an international cruise, make sure that you have your passport. You may be required to possess your passport in a lot of places that you wouldn’t have thought of! Check your ship’s passport requirements and those of the destinations on list. You wouldn’t want to be stuck on board.
Shorts and bathing suits
While this might seem like a no brainer, boys, make sure that the trunks that you choose are comfortable, functional and most importantly quick drying. Also look for a sealing pocket in which you can put in little things like your ring before getting wet. When it comes to bathing suits, you could play it smart by opting for a reversible suit or even a dress that could serve you twice the number of times on board.
Just in case Jackets
Throw in a fleece or a lightweight jacket even when you’re on a tropical cruise. Not only can some air conditioned rooms get extremely cold, but the deck is very windy and cold too. You might want to be sufficiently warm before you have your Titanic moment. Moreover, you’ll need it for the formal nights that so many cruise ships have.
Portable charger and power strips
Bring the first one because you don’t want to be running to your room every now and then to charge your phone. We know the idea is to disconnect from the world but we know you’d want to take a million pictures and plug in some music while your battery drains out. Carry the second if you’re a gizmo freak because the ship probably won’t have enough points for you.
Choice of toiletries and a bathroom organizer
If you’re someone who is very particular about the soaps and shampoos you use, you might want to carry them along as most cruise lines do not offer a great variety on those and are usually quite expensive. Also, if you are planning to pack in a lot of toiletries, it’s advisable to bring a hook on bathroom organizer because the bathrooms are going to be small. – Travel Feeder
