Haze hazard disrupt tourism in Kuala Lumpur this week
Tourists visiting Malaysia and Kuala Lumpur currently must be very disappointed with the hazy weather. The Air Pollution Index indicated that the haze level in Kuala Lumpur has surpassed the very unhealthy level of 198 earlier today. This haze hazard started a week ago in Southern Malaysian state of Johor when uncontrolled forest burning happened in many parts in neighboring Indonesia concurrently. Strong wind blow from the South brought those haze up north towards the center and northern parts of Malaysia. It reached Kuala Lumpur and Port Dickson last 2 days and is now approaching Penang in the North.
Thick haze with very bad burning smell has inevitably affected tourists who are traveling to Malaysia last few days. The situation will not improve at least in these coming few days. If you can smell it, it’s very unhealthy. The haze also affected visibility. With an API of over 190, you can hardly see anything beyond 1KM. As you can see from the above photo, the Kuala Lumpur iconic landmark of Petronas KLCC Twin Tower and KL Tower are both disappeared in the air!
As you can see from the above photo, taken from the same spot, in a normal sunny afternoon without the haze, the whole KL city skyline and both the city landmarks are clearly and beautifully visible.
If you are planning a trip to Malaysia, Indonesia or Singapore in this week or next, detour around the island and peninsular and fly to Thailand instead. Spend a few days in either Phuket or Bangkok before coming to Malaysia and Singapore to avoid the haze hazard! Check out the latest Air Pollution Index reading through DOE of Malaysia before hitting the road.
We hope we could see this beautiful scenes of Malaysia again in the very near future. Please stop burning forest will you! š – Travel Feeder
It’s so sad to think that thousands of innocent people are suffering from the misdeeds of others. But, hopefully, the issue will be resolved and Malaysia will go back to its natural beauty.
