Chinese New Year 2015 Photos in Malaysia
Happy Chinese New Year 2015! I can’t believe this is my first post of the Lunar New Year of Goat this year. Today is already 11th Day of the Chinese New Year 2015 but my new year mood is still going strong! Chap Goh Meh (十五晚 or Fifteenth Day of Lunar new year in Hokkien dialect) is another 4 days away. It is also called Yuanxiao Festival (元宵节, 元宵節) or Chinese Valentine’s Day when Chinese people from all over the world are celebrating the Finale of the 15 days of lunar New Year.
Until today, this is my best lunar new year experience of my life. Countless gathering with friends and families have been happening during the past 10 days. Off course, lots of my iPhone 6 Plus‘s memory have been used to stored the many photos took during this time, which I would love share them here for my fellow readers who are celebrating the lunar new year too. For those who are not from Malaysia, here are some of my Chinese New Year 2015 photos taken around Kuala Lumpur.
The most popular Chinese New Year celebration hot spot is definitely Thean Hou Temple where Buddhists or non Buddhists are flocking to for either prayers or photo shootings.
Devotees each year will come to Thean Hou Temple for various prayer activities including worshipping to Guan Yin and Goddess Tian Hou.
For tourists or families, wandering the surrounding and snapping photos is another perfect activities during Chinese New Year.
I’ve been here almost every year. There would also dragon dancing during the 2nd day of New Year.
For me, the most attractive feature during this time is the deep red coloured lantern decorations around.
Red colours during Chinese New Year symbolize great fortune and wealthiness. So red colour scenes is one of the unique features during Chinese New Year. Besides lanterns in Thean Hou Temple, red curtains can also be seen in Mid Valley Megamall, the most popular shopping mall in Kuala Lumpur during this time.
Beside red lanterns and curtains, calligraphies are another feature to admire during Chinese New Year.
There are not much surprises in terms of new year decorations found in Mid Valley Megamall. Comparatively, 1-Utama shopping mall, another iconic shopping mall in Bandar Utama, does a pretty good job this time with some of the surprisingly cute giant paper dolls feature in the new wing hall.
Here are some of my favorite Chinese New Year 2015 photos snapped with iPhone 6 Plus. Hope you like it!
