Celebrating Chinese New Year 2016 with Yee Sang salad
Here is an image of Malaysian Chinese New Year Yee Sang salad! HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR 2016 to all Chinese from around the world. Be them having different nationality and residing outside of the PRC, Chinese are celebrating together this Lunar New Year which falls on the 8th of February 2016 this year.
Celebration of the new year last for 15 days traditionally, and it would stretch until 22nd February 2016 this year. I’m taking leaves from my works as usual and this is my only blog update so far for the new year. And being a Malaysian Chinese, I had this Yee Sang salad (raw fish vegetable mixed salad) before almost every meal for the past 10 days!
Yee Sang salad is prepared using slices of raw fish with other ingredients such as shredded vegetables and fruits. It is served as an appertizer of the Chinese New year meal, among friends or family members sitting around a table.
After adding the provided source and oil into the salad, all of us will stand up from our seats and mix everything in the plate well together with a loud shout of “Lou Hei” to symbolize a prospering business or job in this coming year.
This is how Yee Sang looks like after mixing. And not only it appears colourful, it tastes fantastic too!
