Travel Snapshot – Haedong Yonggungsa Temple of Busan Korea
This is my first article written with the latest WordPress version 5.0. It has a new block based text editor which I have spent some times getting used to. After all, I hope the end result as you are reading here could be as stunning as I would have wished for. Let’s back to my story.
Haedong Yonggungsa Temple is perhaps the most popular and accessible Buddhist temple for tourists in Busan. Yonggungsa means Dragon Palace Temple in Chinese character.
The above Photo is captured with Nikon D7000 and Nikkor 10-24mm ultra wide angle lens attached. Photographed in Program Auto mode, with Shutter speed 1/125 sec. Aperture f5.6. Focus distance was set to 10mm. ISO 100. Cloudy White Balance. No flash fired and no exposure value being compensated with Matrix metering. This photo was post processed with Adobe Photoshop Element. This reasonably sized Buddhist temple complex spreads along the shoreline on steep rock, which is unique in Korean standard as most temples are found on mountains.
Popular destination during lunar New Year
First built in 1376 by the great Buddhist teacher known as Naong during the Goryeo Dynasty, Yonggungsa temple is a popular destination during lunar New Year when people comes here to wish as the sun comes up.
The best time to visit Haedong Yonggungsa is in April when they are celebrating the Birth of Buddha with festival and when the cherry blossom are in full bloom.
To get there take bus 181 from outside of Haeundae subway station Exit 7. At Haeundae station the bus to Yonggungsa Temple is on the opposite side of the road to the station, it is 19 stops from the station and takes approximately 20 minutes. You will pass a large stone sign for the Temple right before the stop to get off at.
I’ve managed to take quite a number of photos around the complex which I would love to share them in my upcoming stories of my Busan travel. cheers! – Travel Feeder
