My Japan travel – Brief 3 day report in Tokyo
Today I’m heading west to Mt. Fuji, after a wonderful but freezing time in Tokyo. Before that, let’s briefly cover where I’ve been to on my Japan travel to Tokyo. I was in Tokyo for 3 days. I’ve been to Tokyo earlier during last Spring so my itinerary this Autumn was limited to a number of tourist spots which I left out before.
Here are the travel destinations I covered on this 3-day trip:
1) Tokyo Skytree and Asakusa
Measuring 634m tall, Tokyo Skytree is the new iconic landmark of Tokyo. It is the communication tower featuring shopping and aquarium at the bottom. There is a souvenir shop at the ground floor where you can buy some souvenir of the Tokyo Skytree exclusively here. The tower can be reached by the Tobu Isesaki Line from Asakusa station. alternatively, If you don’t mind a bit of walking, just like me, we took Yamanote line towards Kanda from Tokyo and changed to Ginza line to Asakusa station. From there, walk towards the direction of the tower which you will see once stepping out of the train station, crossing the Sumida river and you can reach the tower in about 20 minutes. Along the street are some restaurants and cafe.
After we left the tower, we walked back to Asakusa and did some shopping at Nakamise before the Sensoji temple.
2) Tokyo Tower
I visited Tokyo Tower this time, just to do some comparation between the two towers. Much lower than the Tokyo Skytree, Tokyo tower is still attractive at night, though. If you go to the tower by train or subway, you need to do some walking to reach to the tower (about 20 minutes).
3) Odaiba and Rainbow Bridge
Next, I took the subway back to Shimbashi and transferred to the elevated train to Odaiba, the manmade island. Connecting the mainland and the island is the popular Rainbow Bridge.
4) Tsukiji market
On the next morning, we woke up very early in the morning with only one purpose: visit the Tsukiji market!! We tried the famous sushi joint Daiwa Sushi nearby.
5) Kamakura
After which, we headed for a day trip to Kamakura. I went to Kamakura to view the giant Buddha, which is the second largest bronze sitting Buddha in Japan after the Nara’s Todaiji which I visited in May.
6) Shibuya
In the afternoon, by transferring from JR Nara line to Yamanote line in Simbashi, we went to Shibuya, had a totally different shopping experience if compared to Ginza. Both are shopping paradise, but you would prefer Shibuya if you are in your 20’s.
That’s it for my brief report on my Tokyo travel.
It is sometimes confusing to take a train in Japan especially in the outskirt areas. I caught in trains on my journey to Mt. Fuji, as different platforms leads you to different stations even though they are heading to the same direction. Anyway, I finally arrived at our hotel. My short travel report on Kawaguchiko is coming up next! Stay coming back. 🙂 – Travel Feeder, the ultimate travel photo blog.
