Travel snapshot – Notre Dame du Sablon in Brussels

This is a snapshot photo of Notre Dame du Sablon of Brussels with the Square du Petit Sabron in front of it. The Notre Dame du Sablon (Church of Our Lady of Sablon) is a pretty late Gothic church in Brussels located within walking distance from the Grand Place and Manneken Pis.

Built in the 15th and 16th centuries, Notre Dame du Sablon is noted for its four-fold gallery with brightly colored stained-glass windows (illuminated from the inside at night), which make a striking contrast with the gray-white Gothic arches and walls.

It is one of the main tourist attractions in the Sablon area of Brussels. Sablon is one of the most prestigious and attractive areas in Brussels. In recent years it has become the center of the antiques shops and art galleries. Other attractions of Sablon include Square du Petit Sabron, Palaice de Justice and Place du Grand Sablon.

We walked to the Sablon area and Notre Dame du Sablon after our morning visit to Grand Place and the Manneken Pis. It is still within walking distance at the Southern side of Brussels city centre and there are many tourist features for travelers to explore along the way. At the back of Notre Dame du Sablon, there is a weekend market where you can find various antiques and art goods.

After the church, you can walk across the road to wander in the Square du Petit Sabron where a fountain and many statues are awaiting you. Check out my other stories of my travel to Brussels and Europe featuring some of my best travel photos ever. – Travel Feeder
