The Perfect Travel Destination
If one asks me, out of those countries and cities that I have been to, which one is the perfect travel destination to me? My answer would be… “All of them!” Yes. I love travel. I love to see the beauty and uniqueness of each and every place.
Off course, I love all of them. If not, I would not have been there. That’s the point of travelling. We travel to figure out the real beauty of the destination. We might not be able to appreciate it by end of the day, be it foods, weather or people but, at least, her people love them. For travelers like us, we know then what we have missed. Every travel destination has its characteristics. In the eye of their beholders, they are always perfect. As a traveler, we want to know why and what.
There is no perfect travel either. What is important while we are on travel is to have a perfect travel emotion, or EQ. I would prefer imperfect travel. Only then I could remember longer. The key is that I have to open up my mind to accept the fact that nothing in this world is perfect. So, if you could hold your breath, sustain through your emotion upsurge when something unfortunate happened, stop arguing with your travel partners, then only you could enjoy more of your travel to have a perfect memory.
That’s why I don’t like to travel by full-packaged travel. Tour guides or travel agents planned everything for you trying to make your trip as perfect as possible. However, sad to say, how much you could still remember from the trip, say after 2 years? On the other hand, if we travel by self-travel, more details could still be remembered, say after ten years. I still can remember how we missed our Eurostar to Paris 10 years ago until today; And we nearly missed our flight back to Malaysia when we were lost in the city of Brisbane, 3 years ago…… Those were all perfect imperfections, for me. 🙂
So, don’t expect or hope for a perfect vacation or a perfect travel destination. Think it over, open up your mind and love your travel, experience the good’s and also the bad’s. Control your emotion, not the other way round. Only then, all your vacation travel experiences in wherever countries or cities would be very well kept as good memories to you. – Travel Feeder.
I’ve never booked a package tour in my life. Not because I don’t like them (well, I think they’re silly) but because they never go where I want to be when I want to be there. Apart from that, they are great value if you shop around. And… noone ever said you have to stay with the itinerary and coop up in the resort drinking at the hotel bar!
- December 18, 2008Last year I went horseback riding across Mongolia. I didn’t know how to ride a horse that well, didn’t know where to get a horse in Mongolia, and wouldn’t know where to go in Mongolia with a horse even if I did manage to get ahold of one. So I took a package horseback riding tour.
I totally know what you mean about traveling by your own wits. I do that too. But don’t be too quick to discount every package tour. I remember every hour of my horseback riding trip. And that trip was actually more rewarding for me than the time I went across Mongolia on my own.

- December 22, 2008Mmm. Wise words. I’ve already lived after them and get the most out of every trip. It’s true, keep your eyes and mind open and there is so much to explore.
Of course, we’ve done some package tours too, but I prefer the trips on our own. Especially the planning of them teaches me very much about the destination.
