Zachas street wall painting in George Town, Penang

The latest attraction addition in Penang is no other than the street wall painting in George Town created by Ernest Zacharevic, an international artist from Lithuania, in conjunction with the George Town Festival in June, 2012.

Mirrors George Town is a street art project created by the Lithuanian artist for George Town Festival 2012. The project consists of 6 to 12 large-scale wall paintings strategically placed within the core heritage zone of George Town. The painted figure drawings and portraits celebrate the multiculturalism and diversity of local inhabitants of Penang.

One of my reasons to visit Penang on the final week of Year 2012 was to view these wall paintings before they faded away (Yes. Paints for some of the murals have started to fade off after months of weather exposure). This snapshot of a boy on motorcycle is one of them that I took along Ah Quee Street.

The angle that I took this photo is slightly off, so the painted boy looked floating instead of sitting on the motorcycle. 🙁

Other wall paintings can be seen along Armenian Street, Muntri Street, and Chew Jetty within the heritage zone of George Town, Penang. Here are another 2 creations of Ernest Zacharevic.
