My new travel gadget – the iPhone 5
Finally, I have just got my hands on the new iPhone 5, which was launched on last Friday, 14th December 2012 in Kuala Lumpur. After pre-booking online a week before and queuing up for hours on the launching day, I bought the new iPhone 5 as my latest travel gadget! And after using it for 6 days, I can say it’s a brilliantly designed and seamlessly engineered piece of gadget best suited for travel!
iPhone 5 is now lighter and thinner but larger, if compared with all its predecessors.
The promising logo on the back cover made from Aluminium, in line with other Apple’s products such as iMac and iPad.
The much improved bottom configuration, with smaller connector for easy fitting, larger speaker that produces crispier and louder sounds, and the earphone socket that swapped position from top to bottom.
The iPhone 5’s 16:9 screen is slightly longer that fit in additional row of icons. It is a really bright screen with one of the most natural colour reproduction in the market.
For tech savvies who love to bring the latest IT gadgets along their travel, iPhone 5 is indeed something really useful. It is super fast if compared with the earlier 4s, not to mention the 4 I used to have. If you have data roaming service with you on travel, or carrying the XCom mobile hotspot, searching direction on its map app, or checking the trains schedule can be done effortlessly, especially when the country supports 4G LTE connectivity.
For travel bloggers, updating status and writing travel stories on the go becomes easier with its larger 4″ LCD screen. Though the slightly bigger screen seemed not significant at first, but after using it to write this article, that additional few rows of edit space definitely substantial and effective.
For travel photographers who take thousands of photos on travel, the much larger and brighter screen helps to determine the end result perfectly, when you stream your photos via iCloud. If you are shooting panorama, the iPhone 5 can do it with ease. For food photographers, food images taken with the 8 MP iSight camera looks promising to me.
For outdoor travelers, its superior built quality with combination of hard glass and aluminium can withstand multiple drops without halting its operation, according to various test before.
Off course, iPhone 5 is attractive but still not without its fault. Its battery life is still not good enough for heavy full day usage. Until the technology advancement of battery capacity can cope up with our demand for lighter, thinner and sleeker mobile phone design, we still need to charge our smartphone more than once a day.
Conclusion? iPhone 5 is truly a smartphone for travelers. I can just leave my iPad at home in my future travels! Check out offers from Amazon on iPhone 5. 🙂 – Travel Feeder, the ultimate travel photo blog.
