Travel Snapshot- The ancient Qin Terracotta Warriors
The Qin Terracotta Warriors and Horses were created and buried underground during the Qin Dynasty in around 200 BC (Before century, which means 2214 years ago!!). Truly amazing creations by the ancient Chinese, the historical records and archaeological findings shows that there are over 8000 pieces of these figurines being buried and lined up in such a way to resemble the real army forces once occupied by the emperor while alive, so they could continue to protect his after life.
Discovered accidentally in 1974 by some local farmers while digging for well, the Qin Terracotta Warriors are located 7m deep down underground at the site of the ancient Qin Shi Huang mausoleum in Lintong district of Xian. They are being excavated and now housed in a large museum complex opened for public viewing on actual site.
The Qin Terracotta Warriors and Horses museum is one single attraction that urged me to visit Xi’an, China since childhood.
I’ve finally had a chance to realize my dream to witness this one of the greatest human creation of all times recently. Many photos were taken around, and this is one of them. A close up look at the soldiers line-up, displaying individual unique posing, outfits and even facial expression!
Hope you like it! There would be more photos of them coming in shortly. Keep watching this travel photo blog! 🙂 – Travel Feeder
