Is AirAsia ripping off travelers with another round of Free Seat promotion
AirAsia is having another round of Free Seat promotion this coming midnight. It is great news for travelers. Booking period: Tonight for BIG SHOTS members, and 17th September 2013 until 22nd September 2013 for others.
I was expecting this round of sales would be, and should be, for flights departing during the second half of next year. Basing on the time of this sale, it is logic and supposedly safe to presume that it is going to be an offer for travel period which starts 9 months away from now. Surprisingly, the latest news from Airasia Fan page is saying that the free seats promotion is for flights departing from 7th January until 5th August 2014!
Bingo! I was right again. On 2nd April 2013, we have had another round of AirAsia Free Seat promotion for the same travel period. Do you still remember? If not, read it here. In that post, I already mentioned and advised that there would still be at least another round of promotion few months down the road if you missed the best price in April. Later in July, when AirAsia clinched the Best Low cost Airline award for 5th consecutive year, we had a surprise sale for the same travel period. And yes. This is your third chance, if not the last, to grab the lowest air fares from AirAsia!
Good news and bad news. It is good news if you missed the previous Free Seats promo in April, or you haven’t decided where to holiday previously. Otherwise, someone who book during this coming sales could get the same flight cheaper than what you purchased 6 months ago! By then, cursing from its loyal fans would be as much as praising.
Is AirAsia ripping us off with this another and similar round of Free Seat promotion? To be fair, not really. In reality, any business will do any marketing trick to secure sales. If airlines could not achieve their targeted sales figure in one single promotional sale, they will plan for another sale. Airaisa had never promised there would be only one single free seat promotion for a travel period anyway. Most importantly, they are real sales with real saving for passengers, unlike other unscrupulous traders ripping off customers with higher or same prices during sales period.
Is this an ethical move by Airasia? It’s up to you what you think. Share with me youtr thoughts here by commenting this article below. 🙂 – Travel Feeder
