Head-on Confrontation Between Nikon D60 And Panasonic Lumix FZ28 (Part 1)

Close-up1

Hold your horse and don’t bombard me for good sake! I know they are in totally different league: One is Panasonic Lumix FZ28 while the other is Nikon D60; One is compact camera and the other is DSLR. Why still should I compare it to the other? As usual, here are the 5 reasons why I put 1 to confront with the other:

  1. I own both of them. While camera reviewers for magazines mostly don’t own the equipment that they review but get it on load basis, I found that an in-depth review could better be done by using and fully familiar with the equipments for at least 1 whole month. How fast you navigate and set the menu affects how prompt you could capture a scene perfectly;
  2. Both are reasonably compact and light to be classified as travel camera. Though being a DSLR, D60 weighs comparatively less with only 495g which is still posible to carry along on my vacation travel for the whole day;
  3. Though they are one point & shoot and one DSLR, both are having full flexibility in composition and picture adjustment. ;
  4. Both drops into the low and middle range in terms of price. While FZ28 is selling for RM1,400, D60 being released 6 months earlier and some price drop, is not too far away with only RM500 difference. Little price difference means whoever choosing FZ28 might as well considering D60;
  5. FZ28 and D60 are both very popular in the consumer market currently. To review both cameras in one post from one blog, hehehe… I just hope Travel Feeder could become more popular as well… 🙂

In terms of overall performance, it is very difficult to decide which is better. So, to share with my readers, I’m going to compare both cameras side by side in upcoming post in order for travellers to decide themselves which should become “The” travel camera to be carried along.
